Women must be beautiful, women must stay young forever, women must know how to take care of the house, women must not be opinionated or difficult, women must show off their bodies but not too much, women must be perfect at all times…. There are so many rules that come along with being a woman. Rules to be the perfect, beautiful rose to be gawked at while it is still freshly bloomed. A beautiful rose gets put into a bouquet, a gift of love. Yet the rose is stripped of her thorns of opinion and individuality as she grows older. Of course, nobody likes a thorny rose. In the end, the rose is tossed aside once she starts to wilt away, no matter the beauty of her petals from her youth. For many, a rose is nothing without her fresh bloomed petals to make her beautiful.
